Nominate a Colleague for the Jeané M. Furber Award
This Award recognizes an individual who is an employee of an organization that is a member of the Greater Cleveland Safety Council and has demonstrated through words and deeds his/her strong commitment to make safety a paramount importance in the workplace.The Greater Cleveland Safety Council, GCSC, is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization which operates throughout northeast Ohio but focuses primarily in the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area. The Organization began its formation around 1917 and was established as a Safety Council in 1919. It is the third oldest local Safety Council in the United States between St. Louis and Pittsburgh.
It is governed by a Board of Directors who are selected from member companies and is operated by a professional office staff. The Safety Council Office and its classroom are located in the Hanna Building in downtown Cleveland at East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue.

The Safety Council is a community based organization whose mission is to reduce accidents and the subsequent injuries caused by accidents in the workplace, at home, in schools and on the highways that affect all of the people within the community whether at work or play. It helps to educate the public in matters of safety and good hygiene, supports the efforts of public agencies that promote safety and health, provides its members and others who seek its assistance with safety and health training, and it works within the community to sponsor and endorse activities that promote safety.

The GCSC Board and Staff are committed to make all aspects of life safe and healthy in the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area whereby it truly becomes a safe place to live and work.
